Three members of the National Assembly have ceased to be members of two portfolio committees due to their prolonged absence.
This was announced by National Assembly Speaker Professor Peter Katjavivi in this house this afternoon.
Longings Iipumbu of NEEF and Gordhard Kandume of Christian Democratic Voice will no longer be members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rules and Orders.
Swapo Party MP Jerry Elandjo has also automatically ceased to be part of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
Making the announcement, Prof. Katjavivi explained that according to Section 553 of the Standing Rules and Order, an MP ceases to be a member of the committee if he or she absences himself or herself from the activities for three consecutive meetings or sessions.
