A 41-year-old Chinese national was arrested on Saturday for allegedly trying to bribe a police officer on the B2 road between Arandis and Usakos. It is alleged that he tried to pay a bribe of N$200 to avoid a speeding fine of N$2000. The suspect will appear at the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

In the Omaheke Region, three employees of the Okashandja Bar in Gobabis were robbed at gunpoint by four unidentified men. The suspects are reported to have emptied a teller machine and a safe before fleeing the scene. One female victim sustained injuries after being hit with a panga and hammer. No arrests have been made yet.

In the Ohangwena Region, a 56-year-old woman was gang raped by a 22-year-old Namibian man and a 22-year-old Angolan man at the Eembaxu Village in the Ondobe constituency. The two suspects were identified by communities based on evidence found at the crime scene. They are to appear at the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Three suspects, aged between 35 and 36, were arrested at Mara No. 460 Farm in the Osire area for allegedly stealing the water pump at the main post.

13-year-old Lusia Matia died at the Onandjokwe hospital in the Oshana Region. She was rushed to the hospital in an unresponsive condition, and certified dead shortly thereafter. No foul play is suspected, but her body is kept at the Onandjokwe state mortuary for storage pending and autopsy. 

A 39-year-old Angolan national, Joao Baptista Gupita Wacalenda, was found dead in an earth dam at the Uupale Village in the Okalongo Continuency. He was a cattle herder and is thought to have taken cattle to the dam to drink. His naked body was found in the dam with his clothes discovered outside. His body is kept at a state mortuary for an autopsy. 

It is suspected that 24-year-old Matias Heita Petrus committed suicide on Saturday. His body was discovered hanging from a tree in the Ohangwena region's Omatangela Village. His girlfriend found his body hanging on a rope from the tree. His next of kin is informed. No suicide note was found at the scene.
