A 25-year-old man was today denied bail in the Katima Mulilo Magistrates Court on a murder charge after he attacked his biological father.

It is alleged that Munembo Sibonena hit his father with a pounding stick at the back of his head on Tuesday at Wabona village in the Sibbinda area, accusing his father of bewitching him.

Sibonena Lukaezi, 59, was rushed to Katima Mulilo State Hospital, where he died on Wednesday morning.

The case was postponed to March 13 for further investigations.

A medical report will also be compiled to determine whether Sibonena needs a medical evaluation.

In a separate incident, the police in the Zambezi Region are investigating the murder case of 56-year-old John Zambwe from Kabungo village in the Chincimane area.

Zambwe died in the Katima Mulilo state hospital on Wednesday, after he was allegedly assaulted by five family members.

According to Zambezi Regional Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Kenneth Simbwaye, Zambwe allegedly attacked his 45-year-old biological sister, Miyaze, by stabbing her on both arms five times.

It was then that the family members assaulted him to rescue Miyaze. Zambwe is said to have had a history of violence.

The case was forwarded to the Prosecutor General for a decision on whether to prosecute or not.
