Walvis Bay-based medical doctor, Elifas Shapumba is conducting free medical checkups for individuals who are unable to afford private medical care.
Dr Shapumba says the free medical exercise will be a year-long support program for the Walvis Bay community and will be gradually rolled out to other towns.
The program is aimed to create awareness around various health issues among disadvantaged communities.
Those diagnosed with various chronic illnesses will be referred to specialists for treatment.
Dr. Shapumba says his humble beginnings inspired him to offer healthcare services to vulnerable communities at no cost.
Speaking at the occasion was the Mayor of Walvis Bay Trevino Forbes who applauded the noble initiative.
