Chairperson of the Kavango West Regional Council, Josef Sivaku Sikongo has called on staff members to serve the community with dedication.

Speaking at the regional council's general meeting at Nkurenkuru, Sikongo called those in public office to perform, so that residents may enjoy better service delivery.

He also called on the directorates to ensure all funds given to the region are utilized for their intended purpose and not sent back to the treasury at the end of the financial year.

Sikongo commended the political leaders for working together as a team, which he credited for Kavango West's ranking among the better-performing regional councils, as contained in an independent Institute of Public Policy Research report.

Also speaking at the event was Kavango West Regional Council Chief Regional Officer, Mpasi Haingura.

Haingura stressed the importance of equipping staff members with the necessary skills to carry out their tasks, saying skills should be mastered in order to render effective service to the public.

He cautioned staff members to always carry out their activities within the framework of the law, especially when it comes to procurement.
