Arandis Town Mayor, Risto Kapenda says education is a weapon that can be used to escape poverty and improve one's life.
He made the remarks when he received a donation of school stationery for needy children from the Grassroot Hope Foundation.
While accepting the donation the Mayor urged learners to have a personal development plan and be the game changer and also commended the Grassroots Hope Foundation for helping shape the future of the children and to continue with their kind gestures.
The foundation donated back-to-school items worth N$24 000 to be distributed among 250 orphans and vulnerable children at Aradis Primary, U-B Dax Primary and Kolin Foundation Secondary School.
The items include a set of math tools, books, sanitary pads, and school bags.
The General Secretary of GrassRoots Hope Fondation Isabella Bauleth emphasized the importance of helping the children in order to become somebody in life so that they can also help those in need someday.
The beneficiaries applauded the gesture saying it will go a long way.
