A Sport Officer at the University of Namibia says hosting events ahead of a new season is important and should be the norm going forward. Allan Nghixulifwa expressed his views during the University's pre-season basketball matches over the weekend.

A pre-season basketball event was held at the DHPS Hall in Windhoek over the weekend and saw all of UNAM's basketball teams playing against each other and others in preparation for the upcoming basketball season that kicks off on this week.

The matches allowed the teams to check on their fitness levels and ensure their readiness in time for getting back on the court.

The UNAM Basketball teams have been the dominant forces over the years in the sport and Unam sport officer Allan Nghixulifwa expects the status quo to remain when the new season commences.

He says he is not disrespecting their opponents - but the squads at their disposals have what it takes for one to be optimistic. Nghixulifwa urged basketball lovers to attend the league matches as their presence will inspire the players to bring their A-game.
