The Namibian Karate Federation hosted national trials at the Unam gym hall in Windhoek this past weekend.

The interest and participation of Namibians in Karate has grown significantly over the years and new clubs are being introduced regularly.

As a result, a seizable number of participants also showed up for the Karate Federation's most recent trials.

The Head of the Namibian Karate Federation, Leornard Martins, spoke to nbc sport about the trails and the purpose they served.

With the region five games around the corner, the tournament will be used as a door opener for other continental games.

Martin, who is happy with the standard the federation is currently setting, is looking forward to seeing the team doing well in upcoming events.

The final selection of the athletes will be completed during the course of this week.
