The Fellowship of Christian Councils in Southern Africa (FOCCISA) has condemned the rise in xenophobic attacks, hate crimes and speech targeting migrants in South Africa.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform, Inge Zaamwani, has confirmed that over 100 employees at Merlus Cormorand Fishing have not returned to work and have not received their salaries.

The Minister of Justice and Labour Relations says expanding social protection to workers in the informal economy has emerged as a key government priority.

He said this on a message delivered on his behalf at an International Social Security Forum on Monday.
