2016 Desert Dash kicks off

Namibia's most anticipated cycling event,the Desert Dash, kicked off in Windhoek yesterday, with more than 1000 cyclists taking part. The Desert Dash once again kicked of at the Grove Mall in Kleine Kuppe on Friday afternoon. The dash, which is considered by many as a bucket list event, sees cyclists from more than 20 nations across the world racing for the top spot over a stretch of 369km through the World's oldest desert. The Desert Dash this year had double the amount of entries than in the previous year, with each of the three catagories' first 100 entries selling out in less than a minute. The prize money for this year's event amounts to N$357 000.
