Ambunda returns victoriously

Windhoek-Paulus "El Jesus" Ambunda is the new champion in the IBO Super Bantamweight Title category, after he beat Muhamad Ridwan in Singapore over the weekend. At a press conference hosted by African Connection Boxing Gym - also known as AC on Tuesday in Windhoek, Ambunda thanked the Namibian Nation for supporting him and believing in him. Ambunda, whose nickname is El Jesus, claimed the vacant IBO Super Bantamweight Title in a split decision over his Singaporean opponent Muhamad Ridhwan. ’The fight was great and easy. I knew from the beginning that I will come out victorious. The fact that it was both my parents' birthday and I didn't want to disappoint them. Plus I was well-prepared for anything. Winning a world championship fight on foreign soil with the ease was a blessing for me" Ambunda said. While one judge scored the bout in favour of the hometown hero, the other two scored it for Ambunda, giving the Namibian a slight advantage and the eventual victory. At the age of 39 Ambunda does not have any intentions of quitting soon, because boxing is allegedly in his blood and according to him, for as long as his body is strong, he will continue fighting.
