Councillor Kandjii Hails Late Seibeb

Katutura Central Regional Councilor Ambrosius Kandjii yesterday paid tribute to the late cyclist Costa Seibeb. Councilor Kandjii was one of the people, who visited Seibeb's family house in Katutura. In his speech, Kandjii highlighted the good work Seibeb had done to uplift cycling in the country and fill Namibians with pride. Kandji said he had been following Costa Seibeb very closely and that he had done the best for the country. “He has represented us at various occasions, but I think on a day like this: we are actually mourning a hero, a dedicated son" he explained. Also present was the Chief Administrator of the Namibia National Sports Commission, Freddy Mwiya, who led the local sporting family in paying tribute to Seibeb, praising the former cyclist as talented and a much-loved character on and off the road. Seibeb's sister was visibly devastated by the sudden departure of her brother, which left the family in a bad financial state, as he appeared to be the only bread winner. Seibeb was an uncompromising competitor who forged a wonderful cycling career to become one of the best in the business. Meanwhile, the name of the cyclist who died yesterday after he was hit by a car on the Western Bypass while participating in the Memorial Ride in honor of Seibeb, has been revealed as Leroy Beukes from Khomasdal.
