Desert Raceway to host Oval wars

Walvisbay-The Desert Raceway will become the place to be on Saturday in Walvisbay, as the best Namibian Oval track racers will be in action against the best from South Africa in this year’s edition of “Namibia vs South Africa”. The first NAM VS SA edition was started back in 2015, with 12 entries, when a group of South African oval track racers took on the Namibians racers in the heart of the desert. The event quickly became a household name on the Namibian Motorsport calendar and this year, a total of 60 riders from Namibia and South Africa entered for the two-day extravaganza in the following classes: V8 Flexis and Lexus, Heavy Metals, 8 Valves(1600 and 2.1 litters), Hotrods, Midgets and Quads. The Midget class will once again be the favourite from the get-go, with the thundering roars of the V8’s promising to get the crowd on their feet. Drivers in other classes, like Walvisbay-based Allan Martin in his Hotrod, will show of their driving skills. Martin is one of the favourites in this class. Racing will start on Friday at 18:00, with the action to continue on Saturday at 16:00.
