Swakopmund-The second edition of the martial arts tournament, “Desert Storm” will once again be held in Walvisbay at the end of September, after a successful event was staged last year already. The two-day event this year will see different types of martial arts on display in various age groups. On the first day of the competition, students will engage in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Fitness Challenge and Kata series. The second day will see Kickboxing for juniors and the main event’s fights, which will include two RCFAI Championship Belts and three Sub-Sahara titles up for grabs. Fighters from Angola, Botswana, Brazil, Cameroon, Portugal, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and host Namibia have all been invited to form part of the event, with more than 130 entries received to date. “There will be three sub-Sahara title fights this year. In addition to that, two more title fights will be on offer, and we expect more spectators and more fighters than before." Anita de Klerk the president of Namibia Kickboxing Federation said. Sensei Petrus Mayisela is assisting with the local students’ last preparations and he might also be starring in a title bout against Namibia’s best if everything works out according to plan. “So far, I'm very impressed by the local fighters, so it was easier for me to work with them. Everybody is looking forward to Desert Storm. When they told me about this, I felt honoured to fight Julian, one of the better fighters and one of those changes you cannot miss out on” Mayisela explained. Desert Storm 2 is hosted by the Namibian Kickboxing Federation and will be held at the Westport Warehouse.
