Windhoek-The Brave Gladiators are back home after they were knocked out of the COSAFA Women's Championship, which is taking place in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The Brave Gladiators started the tournament on the wrong foot when they went down 1-0 to Zimbabwe. That encounter was then followed by a disappointing 0-0 draw against Uganda in a match they presumably could have won. But the girls from the Land of the Brave improved nonetheless in group three as they surprised spectators by coming from a goal down to register a 4-1 victory against eSwatini - formerly known as Swaziland. NBC Sport spoke to the team's coach, Brian Isaacs, about his team's short stint in the two-week tournament. “We played good against both Zimbabwe and Uganda, but in the end we failed to win. If it was not for that, we could have been easily in the semi-finals, but it is how Football is. You need to score in order to progress. We also made unnecessary errors which cost the matches” Isaacs said. According to Isaacs, the gladiators learned one or two things from the tournament, which will be of great benefit to the team in future tournaments. “For us to do well in future, we need to improve on our long range shooting. Take advantage of our chances and stay cool under pressure. I also managed to get tactical inputs from other coaches on were to improve as a team. So it was a kind of learning curve for us” he added. The group was won by Uganda with seven points, while Zimbabwe finished in second place on six points and Namibia third with four points.
