Windhoek-Jan Frylinck has been appointed as the new captain of the senior men’s national team by Cricket Namibia with immediate effect. Frylinck was born in South Africa, but is now a Namibian citizen and has represented Namibia since 2016. As an all-rounder, he has made many telling contributions including 158, his first 1st class century, against Scotland in June 2017, centuries in successive innings against Eastern Province and Border in January 2018 and 5 for 38 off 38 overs bowling against Easterns in 2017. According to Cricket Namibia, the left-handed batter and bowler also brings balance to both batting and bowling attacks and his fielding in the slips has been a consistent feature. Cricket Namibia expressed confidence in Frylinck and wished him the best with this important milestone in his career. He played under the captaincy of Sarel Burger who retired earlier this year. Burger was temporary substituted by Stephen Baard. Baard has however accepted a playing contract in Auckland, New Zealand and will be away from October this year until the end of March 2019.
