Kauanivi wins second leg of Victory Race

Keetmanshoop-21 km marathon runner, Mynhardt Kauanivi won the second leg of the Old Mutual Victory race that took place at Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas region on Saturday. The race, which started in the early morning hours, only attracted a few athletes, but this was not a setback for Kauanivi who finished third in the first leg at Swakopmund a week ago. Kauanivi won the second leg of the Old Mutual Victory Race in a time of one hour nine minutes and six seconds. “I am happy to win the race, because I just compete with myself and I tried to make a move and I made it” Kauanivi said. In the women’s category, Sophia Nambabi won the 21 km race in a time of one hour 25 minutes and 30 seconds. “ I just want to thank God for helping me to compete at number one place I never came number one position but today I managed” she said. The organisers of the event were happy despite the low turn up of athletes. “Old Mutual has invested heavily in sport development around the country, this is one of the activities that we are involved in and it was a successful event you can see people are happy it’s a great mood going on” said Sheku Nepembe. The third leg of the Old Mutual Victory race will take place on the 14th of July in Oshakati.
