Naigambo qualifies for 2017 World Champs

Namibia’s 2016 Sport Women of the year, Beata Naigambo,has qualified for the 2017 World Championship in London. Naigambo qualified for the world championships after ending 7th overall at the 36th Valencia Marathon in Spain over the weekend. Kenya’s Valary Aiyabei won the race and achieved the best time with 2:24:49. Naigambo is no stranger to the race as she was aiming for a hat trick, but could only manage a seventh spot, clocking a time of 2:33.07 as she took on the race with a hamstring injury. The 36-year-old Namibian finished 41st at the Olympic Games in Rio The Valencia Marathon is one of the most scenic races in Spain. A record number of more than 19 000 runners, including 5850 from overseas, took part in yesterday’s race, the first ever Spanish marathon to earn the IAAF Gold Label.
