Nakathila turns down IBO World title shot

Local boxer Jeremiah Nakathila and his Promoter Nestor Tobias have turned down an opportunity to fight for the IBO Jnr Lightweight World Title. Tobias said they are refusing the offer, as the boxer has aspirations to fight for the WBO title and nothing else. Jeremiah Nakathila is currently ranked number 3 by the World Boxing Organization and got an offer to battle for the International Boxing Organisation title, something his camp refused. According to Nakathila's promoter, Nestor Tobias their focus is only limited to WBO, WBC, IBF and WBA. "In our view these are the only sanctioning bodies taken seriously in the world of boxing and therefore the only legitimate titles, and we are not about to go for any world title just because it's a world title. We have been in the boxing business long enough to understand that this sport is a business and if you do not respect it, it will not respect you" Tobias. Earlier this year, Nakathila challenged WBO Jnr Lightweight contender, Ryan Garcia from the USA, but is still waiting for a response. Nakathila boasts a record of winning 16fights, 13 by knock-out. He has only lost once. The boxer believes the IBO offer came at the wrong time, as he is working hard for the WBO belt.
