Namibia boxers score big on WBO rating cards

Namibia seemed to be doing very well in boxing, if the latest boxers rankings by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) is anything to rely on. Namibia is positioned in the top 15 rankings with only South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania rated above them in the latest ranking released over the weekend. Namibia's top-rated boxer is Julius Indongo, who moved from being ranked four to three. Indongo who is attached to the Nestor Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy is the current WBO Africa Junior Welterweight champion. Japhet Uutoni is ranked 4th in his division as the WBO's Junior Flyweight International champion, while Immanuel Naidjala who is the WBO Bantamweight Inter-continental champion is rated number six. Sakaria Lukas a force to be reckoned with is rated 8th and he is the current WBO Africa Featherweight champion. Former champions Paulus Moses is ranked 9th from position 15., and he is the WBO Africa Lightweight champion, while another world champions Paulus Ambunda is in the 15th place in the Junior Featherweight category. Jeremiah Nakathila who lost over the weekend and Walter Kautondokwa are both ranked 11th in the WBO Junior lightweight category and WBO Middleweight category respectively. The boxers are all from the MTC Nestor Tobias Sunshine Boxing Academy stable. Imms Moses, one of the country's top boxing trainers in the country’s hailed the boxers’ ratings. “This can only happen if you have a promoter who sets up the right fights for the boxers,” said Moses. In a statement issued Friday, stable owner and promoter Nestor Tobias was full of praise for the boxers and all supporting individuals.
