Namibia Women's hockey team ready for test series

The tournament will take place in the multipurpose sports arena “The Dome” at Swakopmund from the 25th until the 27th of November. The first test will be played on Friday morning at 11h00 and the second test at 19h00 in the evening. Saturday will also see two test matches being played, again at 11h00 and 19:00, with the last test match taking place on Sunday morning at 09h00. Another series win for the local team could further close the gap between them and the continent’s number one team, South Africa. Namibia are currently ranked 14th in the world and second in Africa, compared to South Africa who are ranked first in Africa and 12th in the world. The Namibian ladies had drawn attention to their team when they secured a victory and a draw, while facing the same opponents in Durban earlier this year. Although the South Africans won the remaining three games, the Namibian women’s performance was viewed as a clear signal that the team is improving continually. Both teams are eagerly looking forward to the series to gauge the progress they have made over the past two months and obviously to underline their ambition to qualify for the 2018 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup The Namibian team arrived earlier in the week at Swakopmund to prepare under coastal conditions and have had two practise sessions daily since.
