NBF calls off Boxing championship

The 2016 National Boxing Championship, which was set to take place at Opuwo in the Kunene Region as of today (Wednesday) has been postponed due to a lack of funds. The decision to call off the Championship at the last minute has left the organizers of the event deeply frustrated. Public Relations Officer of the Namibia Boxing Federation, Robert Haihambo, told this to NBC Sport in an interview today. “The decision to postpone comes at the backdrop of national financial tightening as the Government is shifting its priority. We used to depends on them and therefore there is nothing we could do,” concluded Haihambo. It is also during the Championship that the boxers are selected to represent the country on regional, continental and international levels.
