Okahandja spinning raises funds for charity

The Okahandja spinning and drifting event that took place on Saturday at the town's airstrip, was held in an effort to raise funds for the Immanuel Old Age Home, also based in Okahandja. Although the event kicked off well past the indicated starting time, the engines still roared and drivers provided exhilarating spin and drift action. One of the few female spinners in the country, Zenobia Snyder, said doing charitable work for the old and underprivileged people is something that is very dear to her family, who spearheaded this event. Founder and event organiser Elby Snyder explained that although the event didn't go as planned, he is glad people still continued to show support. Although many of the anticipated cars didn't show up, the aim of the event was to raise funds and Snyder said he was glad to have to at least achieved that. The crowds that attended the spin were excited to be part of the action, indicating that it was one of the safest events to attend in the town. Part of the proceeds from the event will be used to repaint the Immanuel Old Age Home in Okahandja.
