Orlando Pirates Football club have appointed their new head coach Erich Muinjo, who aims to turn things around in favour of the team, after consecutive losses in the Namibia Premier League games recently. With his own football background and lots of valuable knowledge, newly appointed Orlando Pirates head coach Erich Muinjo is positive and l eager to start and change the team's current 13th position in the NPL for the better. “The born frees don’t know me, but i was an Orlando Pirates player from the 1970 until 1990. I use to be a player coach i use to play also for Ramblers and Civics as well, I’m not new to the sport scene now pirates ask me to come and help them. “ Muinjo said. Muinjo also said that he is aware of the problems in the team and currently convening with Orlando Pirate’s management to set up new strategic plans for the future of the club. ”You don’t want to hang your dirty laundry on the line. I believe that each and every team have their own problems and there were problems in Pirates. I just hope that i can turn it around. Although I have been gone for a long time, i have been working with the players and i think they are a good bunch” he added. The players are excited about the new coach, but worried about their position in the NPL. NBC sport spoke to the CEO of Orlando Pirates, Nicklaas Kisilipile, about his view of the club. “The current mood in the camp is that the guys are optimistic that the incoming coach is well experienced. He is a former player and we are quite sure that things will turn around after the Black Africa game. We had a team building with the players and they are feeling the heat. I’m quite optimistic and positive that we will turn a corner. The new coach is very optimistic and ambitious, but when things get to this stage we need experience and maturity and that’s why we need to bring in a new coach, because i still think that our former coach is still learning” said Kisilipile. Muinjo is happy to stay on as Pirates coach until the end of the season and will negotiate his new coaching contract thereafter.
