President Geingob highlights the importance of Sport in SONA

Windhoek- President Hage Geingob said sport has the potential to contribute towards socio-economic development during the State of the Nation address in Windhoek on Wednesday. President Hage Geingob highlighted the role sport plays in the upliftment of the youth. He said young people are taking part in sports therefore put the country's name on the map in the process. "The 2018 championships in the codes of Football, Indoor Hockey, Para-Athletics and Boxing, demonstrated the role of sport in fostering a spirit of patriotism. I note with concern challenges and setbacks during the period under review"Dr Geingob said. President Geingob also emphasized on the need for effective governance as espoused in the Harambee Prosperity Plan that aims to strengthen governance across all sectors, including institutions governing Sport.
