Uushona crowned WBF world champion

Namibia's Bethuel 'Tyson' Uushona is the new WBF Welterweight World Champion after defeating Rafal Jackiewitz of Poland on Saturday night. The fight started off well for the Polish boxer, with Jackiewitz already flooring Uushona in the first round. Uushona, however, looked confident in the ring, and displayed smart moves, allowing him to turn things around quickly. It was clear from the 6th round that the Namibian, who lost his first world title fight earlier this year, had improved tremendously. He won on points and was crowned as the WBF Welterweight Champion. Uushona said: "I expected it the tough way, so I did what was expected” His opponent Rafal Jackiewitz responded by explaining that it was not his night at all. He promised to work harder back home in the gym. In other bouts, Lucas Ndafoluma defeated South Africa’s Walter Dlamini on points in the IBO Middleweight category, while Albino Felesiano floored Tebogo Kagiso of Botswana in the first round to register a victory in the lightweight category. The boxing event's promoter, Kriat Kamanya, could not hide his happiness over the successful event. "I want them(fans) to continue supporting sport in Namibia."said Kamanya.
