Windhoek-The Brave Warriors beat Lesotho 2:1 in an international friendly played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Tuesday night. The Warriors were coached by Ronny Kanalelo, with Ricardo Mannetti absent due to family commitments. It was Lesotho, who opened the scoring in the first half when Sera Motebang flicked the ball over Maximillian Mbaeva to give the visitors a one goal lead at half time. The Warriors, however, came back stronger in the second half and it thus came as no surprise when Black Africa defender Vitapi Ngaruka scored for the home side by means of a corner kick. The goal was Nguraka’s first for his country after four games played. The host had gained momentum and continued to attack Lesotho until second half substitute Itamuna Kemuine's shot was turned in by Benson Shilongo. Shilongo, who is signed with Alssiouty FC in the Egyptian top league, scored his eighth goal for the national side. The match ended 2-1 in favour of the Brave Warriors, who included 18-year-old Life Fighters hopeful Hubert Mingeri, Eleven Arrows' Approcius Petrus and 20-year-old Tura Magic player Romeo Kasume, who all made their debut in the starting eleven. Black Africa’s Natangwe Petrus and Tura Magic’s Enzo Mungendje also made their debut as second half substitutes. Kanalelo said the win was very important for Namibia. “We started with young stars to give them experience at this level, but after going down at half time we had to put in more experienced players as it was vital for us to win our first game after the 2018 CHAN competition," he explained. On his part, Lesotho Coach Moses Maliehe was pleased with his players' effort - despite the defeat. “You can tell that Namibia played in the CHAN competition and they gained a lot from that, but we are still learning,” Maliehe reasoned. The win means that Namibia have won their last seven games played at the Sam Nujoma stadium.
