Swapo calls on Uutoni to intervene in ||Kharas RC's state of affairs

The Swapo Party has called on the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, to intervene in the ||Kharas Regional Council's state of affairs, whose management committee has been dysfunctional since June last year. 

The ||Kharas Swapo Party Regional Coordinator, Mathew Mumbala, called for the minister's intervention during a media conference at Keetmanshoop. 

This came after the LPM-dominated council on Thursday terminated what they called the council membership of three Swapo Party representatives, Lazarus Nangolo, Suzan Ndjaleka, and Taimi Amakali. 

Katima Mulilo Town Council without management committee chairperson

The election of a chairperson of the management committee for Katima Mulilo Town Council was deadlocked, with members unable to choose a nominee to occupy the seat.

The three nominated members for the position were Charles Musialike from the Independent Patriots for Change, Namangolwa Mapenzi, and Chizabulyo Simanga, both from the Swapo Party.

Katima's newly elected mayor, John Ntemwa, called for the postponement of the election of a chairperson to allow for further consultations after Musialike walked out of the proceedings.

Zambezi Regional Council management committee

New members and a chairperson have been elected for the management committee of the Zambezi Regional Council.

Matengu Simushi of the Swapo Party and Councillor of the Katima Rural Constituency has been re-elected chairperson of the Zambezi Regional Council's Management Committee.

In his address, Simushi urged fellow councillors to prioritize unity of purpose and development, regardless of their political affiliation.

Election of Ohangwena Regional Council Management Committee's chairperson a tie

The election of the chairperson of the Ohangwena Regional Council Management Committee has ended in a tie.

Outgoing council chairperson and councillor for Omulonga Constituency, Erickson Ndawanifa, and Festus Ikanda, councillor for Omundaungilo Constituency, were nominated, leaving the 12-member council divided into half.

The election reached a tie as both candidates scored six votes each after members cast their votes through the ballots before Magistrate Adrian Sangunji of the Eenhana Magistrate's Court.

TKC committee urged to speed up inauguration of Trans Kalahari Corridor's headquarters

The Minister of Works and Transport called members of the Trans Kalahari Corridor Management Committee to speed up the inauguration of the Trans Kalahari Corridor's headquarters this year.

John Mutorwa made this call during his visit to the Trans-Kalahari Corridor Secretariat in Windhoek.

The visit was aimed at familiarizing him with progress on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa, which was signed in 2003, on the development and management of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor.

CoW once again without Management Committee

Windhoek is once again without a management committee after a special meeting to elect office bearers was called off due to a lack of quorum.

According to City Mayor, Joseph Uapingene, "This morning, the Minister sent me a letter saying congratulations on your meeting today and please take note that I will also give you a chance until the 3rd of March, so I hope by then you will put your house in order. My last attempt will now be to call all councilors together so that we can sit and perhaps clear some of these misunderstandings and pave the way forward."
