Chinese Ambassador visits President Mbumba

The Ambassador of China paid a courtesy visit to President Nangolo Mbumba, updating the head of state on developments between the two countries. 

President Mbumba assured the ambassador of Namibia's continued commitment to solid relations with China.

Dr. Mbumba emphasised that his goal was to ensure that what the late President Hage Geingob had started would be seen through to its end, saying Namibia-China relations counted among those priorities. 

Chinese Ambassador meets Omaheke leadership

Agriculture and education are among the sectors to be given priority in regional development.

This was highlighted at a meeting between the Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, and regional leadership.

The Chairperson of the Regional Council, Ignatius Kariseb, stressed the role of the agricultural sector in ensuring food security.

He said actions to address the plight of Namibians should be deliberate.

Chinese Ambassador to Namibia clears up misunderstandings on visa exemption

The past few days have seen controversial reports on Namibia allegedly trying to push for VISA exemption for Chinese passport holders.

The Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, clears up some of these misunderstandings.

Namibia and China's mutual visa exemption agreement discussions started in 2019, when both sides agreed to pursue visa exemptions for their nationals, according to Chinese Ambassador Zhao Weiping.

China's Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, urged Namibians not to believe the notion that China is pursuing neo-colonialism on the continent, as most African countries have a mutually beneficial relationship with the Asian powerhouse.

Ambassador Weiping made these remarks during a media briefing at the Chinese embassy in Windhoek.

China to continue supporting Namibia's development- Weiping

China's new Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, says China will continue supporting Namibia's social and economic development through the expansion of bilateral cooperation in extensive areas.

He remarked on this during his introductory ceremony in Windhoek.

The event was attended, among others, by Founding President Sam Nujoma, government officials, and prominent businesspeople.

Ambassador Weiping sympathized with families who lost loved ones and property during the recent floods in northern Namibia.
