Geingob appeals to PSC to look into Namibia's public service size

President Hage Geingob has asked the Public Service Commission to look into the size of Namibia's public service, considering the high wage bill.

The post-independence government had to absorb a workforce, including those from the previous apartheid administration.

The current number of employees in the public sector stands at around 107-Thousand raising concerns over a wage bill of more than N$28 billion.

According to the Public Service Commission, 73% of women are employed in lower job categories, compared to 37% of men.
