Nurses from the Windhoek Central Hospital marked Nurses Day in celebration of the vital role they play in society.

The Windhoek Central Hospital Forensic Unit received a donation of cosmetics, clothes, Christmas hampers, gardening tools, and sweet treats from the Namibian Automated Clearing House, Namclear.

A shortage of equipment, limited space, insufficient staff, and inadequate funds are among the factors continuing to hamper the efficiency and effectiveness of services at the Windhoek Central Hospital.

The State's eye clinic at Windhoek Central Hospital currently has about 1300 people on its waiting list for cataract surgery.

Only four eye specialists are employed by the state, with two based in the north, while the other two are in Windhoek.
