The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Namibian Tourism Board (NTB), has dismissed allegations of having entered into fraudulent contracts on behalf of NTB with a Ghanaian digital marketing and promotion company, Hype.Up Limited.

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has denied claims circulating on social media and in local newspapers that it planned to spend N$60,000 on carnival costumes for politicians at Kangonde Salt Pan in the Oshikoto Region.

The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Namibia Tourism Board has resigned from the board.

NTB, in a statement, said Janette Fourie, the chairperson, voluntarily resigned from NTB with immediate effect.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Tourism Board, Bonnie Mbidzo, has described the Africa Travel Indaba as a success.

The NTB attended the Africa Travel Indaba from the 13th–16th of May of this month in Durban, South Africa.

The Namibia Tourism Board will continue to market and promote Namibia as a preferred travel destination for the rest of the world. 

Its last promotion was at the International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin earlier this month. 

The Namibian Tourism Board says that, once the Tourism Bill is passed, it will no longer regulate the tourism industry.
