Finance Minister tables N$100.1 billion national budget

Finance and Public Enterprises Minister Iipumbu Shiimi tabled a N$100.1 billion national budget in the National Assembly this afternoon.

This is the first time Namibia's national budget exceeds the N$100 billion mark.

Finance Minister Iipumbu Shiimi tabled his fifth full budget under the theme, 'Continuing the Legacy of His Excellency, President Hage G. Geingob, by Caring for the Namibian Child'.

Shiimi Dismisses Reports of No Salary Increase for Civil Servants

Finance and Public Enterprises Minister, Iipumbu Shiimi has dismissed reports that government will not affect civil servants' salary increments as a result of stringent conditions enforced by the International Monetary Fund.

Shiimi explained that as a result of COVID-19, the government was forced to seek some additional financial resources from the IMF.

However, he says this money did not come with conditions and that government did not commit not to increasing the salaries.
