Kavango East Region's leadership convened to enhance local economic growth

Regional leadership in the Kavango East Region met with the business community to discuss how to better improve local economic growth and development.

Referred to as the Mayoral Business Forum, the platform brings the local business community under one roof to, amongst other things, foster strong bonds and promote a unified business spirit. This is particularly important ahead of one of the region's biggest events, the Rundu Annual Trade Fair, next month.

Local authority leaders urged to avoid political affiliation

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Utoni, has urged local authority leaders to avoid political affiliation when carrying out their duties.

He made the call during a joint signing ceremony of the renewal and new cooperation agreements between the City of Windhoek and 16 other local authorities.

The areas of cooperation entail solid waste and sewerage management, human resources and capacity building, economic development, as well as land and housing.

Uutoni urges leaders to prioritise service delivery and development

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for new houses at Bukalo, Uutoni highlighted that internal conflicts among leaders hinder development, leading residents to blame the government.

Office of the Otjozondjupa Region Governor hosts workshop for church leaders

The Office of the Governor in Otjozondjupa Region is hosting a two-day training workshop for all church leaders in the region.

The purpose of the workshop, titled 'Role of Church in Community Development',  is to equip church leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills for them to assist the government in carrying out its mandate effectively.

A church is a place of worship where people gather, predominantly on Sundays, for spiritual upliftment.

Given that Namibia is recognised as a Christian nation, a significant portion of the population attends church.

Youth should be considered for top leadership positions - Tsaneb

The United Democratic Front (UDF) Party's Central Committee Member, Daniel Tsaneb, wants young people to be considered for top leadership positions.

Tsaneb said this during an interview with nbc News on the sidelines of the central committee meeting at Usakos, recently.

He says when the younger generation advocates for free expression, the leadership is challenged due to a lack of effective political administration and processes in the party.
