This year's Central Committee Meeting was not the same without its Party President, who died last month. 

A sombre moment could be observed as fellow party members sang political songs in remembrance of the fallen giant. 

The main chair of the late President, Dr. Hage Geingob, was covered with a wreath and leaned towards the table, marking his absence.

It was a sad moment for the leadership and fellow comrades in attendance.

The Central Committee meeting of a faction of SWANU, led by Evilastus Kaaronda, will go ahead as planned this weekend, despite opposition from the other camp.

Kaaronda was elected as the party's president at a Central Committee meeting and national congress last year.

He says since then, he has been working tirelessly to save the fortunes of the party and propel it to the next level amidst a leadership dispute.
