San communities urged to embrace culture

The Deputy Minister of the Marginalised Communities, Royal /Ui/o/oo has urged the San people to embrace their culture and ensure that the younger generations learn and participate in cultural activities. 

The Deputy Minister made this remark at the just-ended first-ever San Annual Cultural Festival held at Gobabis in the Omaheke Region.

First edition of the San Cultural Festival set for November

The San people will be holding their first edition of the San Cultural Festival in Gobabis at Legare Stadium from November 2 to 5.

The festival is aimed at displaying the San people's culture.

The festival is a way to preserve San people's culture by displaying and passing it on to the youth.

The San people's culture is the oldest in Southern Africa.

They are known hunter-gatherers and live on wild berries, wild potatoes, wild animals through hunting, and other fruits from nature.

The first-ever edition of the San Cultural Festival is on the cards.

The San community gathered at Otjiwarongo to plan for the November event in Tsumeb, which seeks to foster unity.

The festival looks to revive the San people's culture, traditions, and heritage, which are slowly disappearing in some quarters.

Although there are different subgroups, Chief Ananias Soroseb of the Kai !kha khoen Traditional Authority encouraged the community to use every opportunity to engage.
