The Electoral Commission of Namibia has announced the final results for 12 more local authorities, bringing the total number of verified and declared local authority election results to 35 out of 59.

In a bid to enhance citizen engagement, the Office of the Prime Minister has hosted its first-ever workshop on the Government Communication System (GCS) for Local Authorities.
 
Held in Mariental, the workshop brought together public relations officers from local authorities across the country.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, urged local authorities to refrain from collecting debt from their clients via third-party enforcers and rather educate residents on their services and their responsibilities to ensure such services remain available.

Local authorities are being urged to prioritise giving residents access to fundamental services like water and proper sanitation.

Otjozondjupa Governor James Uerikua has called upon the local authorities to fast-track the delivery of land and housing for the men and women in uniform.

Uerikua made this call during the State of the Region Address at Otjiwarongo.
