The Police have warned that criminal syndicates are increasingly using cyberspace through fake job advertisements, social media and online scams to recruit and exploit victims.

International Relations and Trade Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi says Namibia has made major advances towards operationalising its anti-trafficking efforts and addressing challenges in combating trafficking in persons.

The Head of the Police Higher Profile Investigations Division, Florietha Jantjies, says the Ohangwena Region has recorded 14 cases of human trafficking, of which six are on the court roll. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has emphasised that trafficking in persons has become a significant global issue, resembling modern-day slavery across the world.
