Fire destroys part of Ella Du Plessis hostel

A fire erupted on the upper floor of a hostel building at Ella Du Plessis High School on Wednesday morning. 

The City of Windhoek's fire brigade successfully extinguished the flames. 

Earlier this year, the students were moved from this building as it was declared unfit for habitation.

The Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security Minister, Dr. Albert Kawana, has announced the extension of Gun Amnesty Month to 2030.

The gun amnesty period is in September of each year, and Africa is envisioned to silence illegal guns by 2020.
