One hundred years after Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro's birth, Namibia says his legacy remains woven into its freedom story. 

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has hailed Cuba's contribution to Namibia's liberation struggle, describing the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro as a celebrated hero in Namibia.

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has paid tribute to Cuban national hero José Martí during his official visit to Cuba.

Dr Ngurare also pushed for stronger cooperation between Namibia and Cuba in education, health, youth development, water and engineering.

Namibia and Cuba have reaffirmed their long-standing solidarity and historic friendship as the two countries marked the 73rd Moncada Day commemoration, with a procession through Windhoek culminating at the Fidel Castro Primary School.
