Venezuela celebrates its 214th independence anniversary today.

Today is Valentine's Day, a day celebrated around the world for love and romance. It is on this day that the late President Hage Geingob and his wife, Monica Geingos, would have celebrated nine years of their union today. 

A resident of Keetmanshoop, Hans Jaartze, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for a knife murder.

26-year-old Jaartze pleaded guilty to a murder charge at the start of his trial in the Keetmanshoop Regional Court.

He blamed alcohol for taking the life of his victim.
