The Mariental Municipality has written off municipal debts amounting to over N$1.2 million owed by senior citizens.

Residents went into a panic mode after the water supply from the nearby Hardap Dam was cut off.
The Mariental Municipality has warned members of the public about scammers calling residents and requesting payments for their municipal services, such as water and electricity supply, not to be disconnected.
