Music filled the air at the Mariental Persianer Hall as residents of the Hardap Region joined the world in commemorating World Music Day. 

The Mariental Municipality has written off municipal debts amounting to over N$1.2 million owed by senior citizens.

The decision follows a council resolution taken at an ordinary meeting held in September. 

In a move to foster urban resilience, the Mariental Municipality, in collaboration with United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction and the GIZ Resilience Initiative Africa, hosted a workshop to strengthen local capacity for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Mariental Municipality, Paul Nghiwilepo, has reassured residents of a secured water supply.

Residents went into a panic mode after the water supply from the nearby Hardap Dam was cut off.

The Mariental Municipality has warned members of the public about scammers calling residents and requesting payments for their municipal services, such as water and electricity supply, not to be disconnected.
