Fuel smuggling leads to significant government revenue losses because it bypasses official channels, evading taxes and levies.

Namibia's National Energy Fund has, in the past five years, lost N$300 million in revenue due to fuel smuggling.

Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah, accompanied by the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA)'s Commissioner Sam Shivute, paid a visit to the tax authority's office at Oshikango in the Ohangwena Region.

The visit was aimed at encouraging officials to continue serving the nation diligently.
