Over 100 liberation struggle veterans attended the commemoration of Cassinga Day at Okongo in the Ohangwena Region.

Swapo Party pays tribute to Cassinga victims

The Swapo Party held a candlelight vigil at the party's headquarters to honour the heroes and heroines who lost their lives during the Cassinga Massacre in 1978 in Angola. 

On the 4th of May in 1978, an event took place in the Cassinga refugee camp in Southern Angola.

Swapo Party Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on party members to defend the foundation that paved the way for the country's hard-won independence. 

She made the call at the party's 64th-anniversary commemoration at Mariental in the Hardap Region.
