The Ovambanderu Traditional Authority intends to propose that historical sites that hold significant historical value to the community be nominated and registered for recognition by the National Heritage Council of Namibia (NHCN). 

With Namibia rounding off Heritage Week last month, the National Heritage Council (NHC) has announced that it is preparing to nominate Brandberg for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. 

Namibia currently has two sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The National Heritage Council of Namibia (NHCN) has called on residents of the Kavango East Region to nominate sites of heritage significance. 

Even though the region is rich in various cultures and traditions, there are no officially registered heritage sites in the region.
