Even though it is illegal, individuals are still continuing to erect fences within the boundaries of community forests, especially in the Kavango West Regions.

The Chief Forester for Kavango East and West, Jonas Mwiikinghi, described the illegal fencing as a serious concern.

Namibian forests are increasingly under threat from various human activities. Chief Forester for the Kavango regions, Jonas Mwiikinghi, emphasised that the only way to restore what has been lost is for Namibians to actively engage in planting more trees.
