The Minister of Health and Social Services, Esperance Luvindao, has said that despite work ahead, Namibians have reasonable access to health care.

She made the remarks at the official opening of the new Onandjokwe Hospital Maternity Ward.

The Onandjokwe Endoscopic Outreach service will soon be known as the Professor Fillemon Amaambo Endoscopic Tour.

The programme was established in 2022 to reduce waiting time for patients requiring endoscopies at Engela District Hospital.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced that the new 120-bed maternity facility at the Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital is almost complete.

The facility will feature first-stage and second-stage rooms, a spacious reception area, a procedure room and a gynaecology theatre.

The Keetmanshoop Hospital has launched an endoscopic machine with the outreach medical team from the Onandjokwe Hospital.
