Yesterday marked what would have been the 97th birthday of Namibia's Founding President, Dr Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, who is remembered not only as the Father of the Namibian Nation, but also as a key figure in shaping the country's sporting landscape.

Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, Namibia's Founding President and Father of the Nation, has received numerous prestigious international honours and awards in recognition of his enduring legacy.

His death was announced by President Nangolo Mbumba this morning.

Nujoma died on Saturday, 08 February 2025, at the age of 95 in a private hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. He is survived by his wife, Kovambo Nujoma, and two sons.
