Kavango East Region is calling for stronger mental health support as it joins the rest of the world in commemorating World Mental Health Day.

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema said the abrupt cut in health support by donors is painful but long overdue.

Hichilema, however, said his government will enhance its partnership with the church that has been running mission hospitals on the continent.

The Rössing Foundation has donated N$1.5 million worth of malaria prevention equipment and tools to the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

The purpose of the donation is to support the efforts of the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme to reduce malaria transmission.
