Namibia's approach to resource management at independence has been to rebuild its overexploited and depleted resources to the maximum sustainable level, especially its marine.

Following recent oil discoveries, Namibia continues to seek guidance from countries with established petroleum industries, such as Norway, to gain experience in managing the sector effectively.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Dr. Tobie Aupindi, has called for innovative ways to manage Namibia's natural resources, saying the country must think global while acting local.

Dr. Aupindi spoke at a stakeholder's meeting held at Parliament today.

Rössing Uranium Board Chairperson Steve Galloway has warned that Namibia could face serious challenges if it fails to effectively manage its natural resources for the nation's benefit.
